Wishes for next Updates

Post by kynes »

I like the new font on the DM42, could you make the max size of the new font as big as the biggest classic font size? And an option to reverse the status bar (black on white) also would be nice.

Yes please. I will even appreciate an even bigger font, that uses the whole width of the screen to display a full length number.

You are able to read the keyboard print though, aren't you?

Hello!
A key bounce detection algorithm to prevent double keystrokes due to false contacts in the domes. It doesn't seem difficult to implement: if the time between keys is less than x milliseconds, a single press is recorded.
I'm sorry if it's an obvious idea or if it has drawbacks that affect other parts of the software. But in my calculator this error occurs frequently and makes it unreliable when entering data.
It's a serious problem I'm encountering with the DM42S.

I'm sorry for this. Have you tried taking it apart and cleaning the contact areas?

cesar,

Try going to Setup -> Settings -> (X) Slow Auto-repeat

That seemed to help with my DM42 keybounce problems.

Thank you! Yes! I have already tried the "Slow Auto-repeat" setting, but it does not solve the problem totally (in my case). I've also tried cleaning the domes. But it still fails occasionally. The calculator is a very good concept and I like it, but the repetition error on the keyboard makes the entries unreliable. Every time I use it, it gives me some troublesome results! That's because I think I clicked on the number 123 and the register x shows 1223. (for example).
Well, anyway. In my modest opinion I think it could be improved with a check using a filtering algorithm to remove such fast pulses together.

I can, but I would read and use bigger keys better. Being used to hp35s, when I first got the dm42, my first reaction was, my, what tiny keys and printing. By now, having used the dm42 for some time, I pretty much know where each key is, but with reading answers it is different, because the numbers keep changing. Also, it is important to read and copy the display accurately. I will gladly forego seeing the last x register for an even bigger font.

When the source code becomes public, I might even try to look into it for myself.
