The update itself went without trouble, but the DM42 crashed during the saving of the state file, which effectively erased everything I have ever done. Luckily, I saved most of my programs to flash and the PC, so not too much of a disaster in the end.
So, did this happen after you made the update ? Did this just happen once, or does it now happen every time you try to save the state file. BTW, I also make a backup state file STATEBAK.s42 just in case something like this ever happens.
It happened before the update, on version 3.4. Keeping a backup is a good idea, I will do that from now on.

Mine hasn't emitted any magic smoke yet, so no smell there :)

What makes you guessing that??
SM released the DM42 code some weeks back. Lots of folks suggested they wanted it to make their own custom versions, but I suspect the reality of doing so is a much higher hurdle of complexity and resources than most will actually commit to.

I must have missed that event, too. :o Must have been a quite quiet action ...

Hi,

smooth update with dfu_utils under Linux here!

Is it only me or do we get more and more free memory with each update?
David...are you on the way to implement the firmware with half-bytes? ;)))

Thanks a lot for the update!
Cheers

Actually, the code at https://www.swissmicros.com/dm42/free42/ just builds a test version that runs on a PC console. It does not build an actual installable firmware, and the tools needed to do so, and to debug the firmware, are also still missing.
