So, one more time:

FIX 9
1.1 -> 1.100000000 (8 zeros)
10 + -> 11.100000000 (8 zeros)
100 + -> 111.100000000 (8 zeros)
1000 + -> ??? (how many zeroes?)
10000 + -> ??? (how many zeroes?)
100000 + -> ??? (how many zeroes?)

If you'd tried the exact same test case on the 35s that you started this thread about, THE EXACT SAME ONE, you would have seen what was going on. But no, instead of FIX 11 you set it to FIX 9, and then you stop the series exactly when it reaches 12 digits. Why?
Hello Thomas!
First I have to beg you pardon for my harsh tone.
Yes, you're right!
One step more and I would have recognized my error.
I stopped with 12 digits because I didn't want to spoil this forum with numbers. Unfortunately it was just before the fraction part shrinks in the display. I should have foreseen this.

This wasn't professional, and I'm sorry for that :/
Please take my excuse.

Apology accepted -- although in all fairness, after me blowing my top, it wasn't strictly necessary.
But I do appreciate it. :)

I don't often say this but today I feel it is justified:

Google believes the quoted passage says "Man is different, I think he is very cute".

I presume alternate translations also exist?

Well, G... :roll:
How about learning a foreign language? Oooh, sorry, I forgot - bad idea for US-Americans! ;)

Actually, these are two lines of a little poem. I'd translate it "People are different / I enjoy them" but some subtleties are lost in translation, of course.

"Nowt as queer as folk" might be the UK version.

What do you mean by "a" foreign language, exactly? Do you really expect Americans to learn German? Granted that there could be more effort made here towards learning foreign languages, but wouldn't more obvious candidates be, say, Spanish or French? Or if you're thinking globally, then how about Russian or Chinese?

Some years ago I had a German colleague. One day I mentioned to him, over lunch, that I spoke German. His reaction: a wide-eyed stare, followed by "Why?" :lol:

Actually, if you study American history, German almost became a second language in the United States, where all federal documents would have been printed in both English and Spanish. Germans represent the second largest cultural group in the US, after the English. German is widely spoken in many small towns in Texas, and Octoberfest is one of the biggest events here. And of course, there are the Pennsylvania Dutch Amish people, who speak their version of German. My mother was of German and Polish Jewish descent, and she spoke Yiddish. Both my parents spoke Spanish and French as well, although my only fluency is in Spanish and English. Here in Texas, you are just as likely to hear Spanish being spoken as English, and all governmental offices are staffed by bilingual employees. Official documents such as voting ballots and driver’s license applications are printed in both English and Spanish. Visit New Orleans, and you will hear Cajun French being spoken.

So, I think the notion that Americans are all ignorant and uncultured monolinguists is a bit off the actual facts.
