Thank you, sirs. Maybe then the ON should be written in white to keep the color logic of the keyboard. It's kind of misleading to picture it in yellow.
Kind regards,
Javier

1 + (Edit: white print is used for the alphabet already, so you have this color available at zero cost)zooropa1844 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 9:58 pm... then the ON should be written in white to keep the color logic of the keyboard. It's kind of misleading to picture it in yellow.

Pressing [SHIFT] before a key gives you the function that is written above the key, not simply the function written in yellowzooropa1844 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 9:58 pmThank you, sirs. There are only 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who do not.
Re: My Calculator DM42 ist arrived ;-)
Checking a real HP-42S, as I presume it's ON label is also yellow, I find it's.... not. It's white (maybe silver), so yeah...zooropa1844 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 9:58 pmThank you, sirs. Though it's not really a problem IMHO. How long do you suppose a DM42 owner would be puzzled and not sure how to turn it on before trying. And after the first time, well then he/she knows.

Well, it's all about consistency and coherence, isn't it? (I hate to repeat myself.)
Edit: Note I had to edit my post viewtopic.php?f=2&t=267&p=3631#p3631 above since I made an error.

That must be a subtle difference between the beta units and the production units (I don't have a production unit). The alphabet on my key bezel is yellow.

Did you disassemble the unit and look at the frame in which the keys sit? There could be plastic flash in some of the key holes.gruensucher wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 2:57 pmHello!
Small problem, yellow button does not always respond, this would be essential.
Hardware is okay. Can only be software!?
Does anyone else have the problem too?
Sorry, my English is not good to write, reading is okay.
Mr. Steinmann reply me, will first type a lot!
This is an absolutely fine calculator!
My old 42 retired in purely.
bye dirk
This was discussed in the beta forum some time ago.

Re: My Calculator DM42 ist arrived ;-)
I received mine 2 days ago, just wanted to thank everybody involved in this great project, SwissMicros people first and foremost !
Yes some keys need more pressure (key "5" on my DM42...) but I expect that disassembling and cleaning the keyboard pad should help... I shall leave time do its purpose first, before tweaking the hardware ...
I am impressed by the sturdiness of the beast, it is solid, rigid, and heavy ! Not a tank, but an intrinsec robustness, and not just because some metal plate added inside (as they do in remote controls ) - You feel the swiss qualität !
The most annoying part is the pouch, it is so tight I cannot put the calculator back into it... I am using my old HP11C as a nug fit to "loosen" up the pouch... really a minor problem, but maybe for future batches you shoud increase the width by 1-2 mm... (and add a nice SwissMicros logo on it ?)
NB the internal pading is all wrinkled, is it normal ? again, not a problem.
Well, I have to spent some time working with the beast now, instead of complaining...
Thanks for all !

That must be a subtle difference between various beta units (I don't have a production unit). The alphabet on my key bezel is white and I'm happy with this choice.

Re: My Calculator DM42 ist arrived ;-)
My beta unit (00071) also has yellow alphabet characters, I did not know there were different colors used among the beta units, presumably all from the same batch.
Can someone with a production unit please post a large, clear photo of the front for us folks in distant lands not lucky enough to have received ours yet. Best case is someone with both beta and production units showing both side-by-side.
Thanks
