The reason for the inclusion of 3.0.5 vs 3.0.6 in DM42 v3.20 is simple.
Thanks for sharing the info. I'd rather have a well-tested 3.05 than a quickly patched up newer version.
But I do not understand why Michael did not explain this in the announcement, most people would certainly would have more understanding for this than for the "maybe nobody will notice" tactic.
I preferred the old font with dot in the center of the zero!
The old fonts are still there.
??? really? I can't see him switching the fonts... I've just 3 fonts with new firmware. The first two are the same, one is in bold. The other is the new one with lcd style. Can you help me to understand?

Could you please advice how to enable them? Cycling through the fonts with Shift-F5 does not bring up the old "center-dot" font. I have checked the DM42 manual but found no other way to select fonts.
The old font, with the dotted zero, is available, but only in its modified form - this font was modified to make the zero slashed (consistent with the other fonts) and some other minor (basically invisible) tweaks related to spacing.
The completely new font is available in only 2 sizes due to memory constraints.

If it's modified then it's not the same font, is it?
Yeah, that was stated kinda wonky...

Yeah, 2 fonts, one pixelated blotchy LCD design and the other in both crisp (normal) and bold. All 3 have a slash thru the zero. I'd rather have the original (Andale - dot in center of zero) in place of the pixelated blotchy LCD font.

Maybe next time?
Otherwise working well.
I, for one, use the 'pixelated blotchy LCD font' since it is true to the original one.
I'd rather dismiss the bold one.
But, as you see, everybody has his preferences, so...

Me too. I do like the new, bold font better than the other original font, and used it for a while, but when I pick up my DM42 and turn it on, it doesn't feel quite right unless it's running the original style font. It's odd, because when I objectively simply examine them, the new font has some clarity advantages, yet my gut still feels the original one is "right". Old habits are hard to kick...
