Only problem(s) with that is the www.SwissMicros.com/DM41X/fat where you’re told to download a full FAT zíp file doesn’t work (404). I did manage to find the ZIP File eventually but it only contains 3 files - No STATE or PROG folders.

ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated!

The urls have all changed in the new SM website. You will now find all the DM41X pre-loaded FAT files here >>> https://technical.swissmicros.com/dm41x/resources/ The file you want to download is DM41X.zip. There are no STATE or PROG folders, because these are not pre-loaded files. These folders are created automatically when you save state or program files. You need to back up all your programs, state files, and other settings that you create to your PC or MAC so that you can recover them in the future if you have to format the FAT disk again.

Also, you need to modify your Prime cable as described previously in this thread to make sure it is inserted completely into the DM41X USB port. Even so, it is possible to get a sudden disconnect, which can lose data and corrupt the FAT disk. Try to support the cable so that it doesn't pull on the connector.

Mike - thanks for the help, I’ve fully restored my DM41X now.
I order the pack of 3 USB cables recommended - they work much better but I’ll still shave a bit off
As an aside, is there a limit (not just disk space) to how many .MOD files and/or .RAW files you can have on the DM41X?

I don’t think so, but I’ll leave it to the developers to confirm this. Since this is a FAT drive, the directory should simply expand to accomodate files as they are added.

Edit - There is a theoretical limit, but it is a very large number. This is a 6 Mb disk, so it is limited by the number of clusters. There must be at least one cluster available for each file, so assuming a 512 byte cluster size, then there would be 12000 clusters on the disk. So, assuming that the directory and FAT occupy 1000 clusters along with the folders, then that would leave 11000 clusters available for file storage. Since files will occupy more than one cluster, the practical number is lower. Bottom line, the number of files that you can store is basically dependent on the storage space.

There's a fix being tested that will be in the next firmware release.
I'm also a little concerned, although I'm not yet affected by the aforementioned problem. However, like several other people, I would like to know when the next bugfix release can be expected? :)
