I am saddened to see the thread such as "No Rom no fun" devolve into name calling and disrespect for one another. Alas, this seems to permeate all online life any more. I migrated recently to this forum because it seems to be a haven of technical innovation and do-it-yourself entrepreneurship. I admire the people on the forum and their contributions to the community of SwissMicros users.

Let's not let lack of civility and trollish behavior get out of hand. Let us enable SwissMicros and their users continue to enjoy technical achievement and have a small niche in the Internet where we can learn from one another and advance in joy and peace.

For what it's worth, the user who was showing much disrespect to others and who stated loud and clear that he/she was here only to complain is no longer a member of this forum.
There are only 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who do not.

I agree completely with your comments and sentiments amafan, but I also agree with akaTB.

It's fully clear, by his own blatant admission, that he was here to complain and cause trouble. Given the attitude, I'm somewhat happy the replies were civil and fact-based. He's gone now, so let's get back to fun with respect, it's a lot more satisfying.

I understand that. I just wanted others on the forum to value what they have here. We're here for a reason, and I don't want to see this forum to devolve into something that is not a treat for the mind.

I agree, social media has led to people feeling they can act negative and offensive anywhere they go, even nice, quiet little corners of well-behaved people like we have here. I also really like the turn of that phrase.... a treat for the mind.

Swiss Micros... Mind candy for calculator aficionados :D

I don't think the poster had much tact in their message, but in my opinion their point was valid. I know this opinion isn't popular in this community.

Making an account to raise a concern (complain) on a manufacturer's forum seems like the proper use of the communication channel to me.

I viewed their intention as a complaint against SM for not including documentation with the rom zip SM supplies. Complaining to or about the independent contributors who made the content is rude and inappropriate.

All free membership forums have their trolls, and it’s the responsibility of the forum moderators and administrators to determine the appropriate measures to be taken when a member acts badly. When I first read some of this new member’s hostile postings, I was wondering not if but when he/she would be banned. Actually, I find this forum to be quite tolerant of offensive behavior, but only if this person makes significant contributions or is a member of the SwissMicros elite. Anyway, I’m glad this forum offers an Ignore button. ;)

I think what caused that person becoming banned was it didn't have any positive record built up before complaining. Else, I concur that its case started being comprehensible but was overstrained then.
