DM41X arrived in Australia!

Post by hsilop »

So exciting!
I love the keyboard already. Excellent haptic feedback combined with that snappy 'click' sound. The bolder font than the DM42 makes the keys easier to read too.

Now, time to upload all my HP41CV programs! Fun fun fun .... B-)

So, it sounds like shipping times are substantially longer to Australia than the USA.

Please look on a globe and you'll know why. 8-)

Oh, I wasn't aware that shipments to Australia went by truck overland and ship by sea. BTW, I once flew from central USA to Australia, and amazingly it took less than a day !

Then please tell me why a shipment is called a shipment. And also "planements" from CH to AUS take significantly longer than from CH to USA although the same letters are involved.

Most mail to Oz comes by air these days. By ship would have taken *must* longer.

There are a lot fewer planes flying here than the USA.

I was being sarcastic about mail to Australia travelling by ocean ship. The snarky remark that I should look at a globe to understand why its takes longer to arrive in Australia as opposed to the USA, is meaningless in modern times with air travel. Your observation that it's because there are fewer flights to Australia than the USA makes perfect sense, and has nothing to do with the difference in distances from our two countries and Switzerland.

The situation in the USA is quite variable. Some people like myself who live in a major city with an international airport that is a port of entry, receive items from abroad very quickly and reliably, but for others the wait can be quite long. Also, our USPS service can be very unreliable in some places.

Some administrations invest in public infrastructure, others don't. Visiting various countries, you notice the consequences easily.

Tell me about it, I ordered Nightwish's "new" album from Finland back in February, it did not arrive until late September! Over 7 months!!! So I was kind expecting a long delay when I ordered the DM41X. Fortunately that only took 3 or 4 weeks to get here.

Any other Nightwish fans in here?
