So I guess Dan Simpson also had the same failure just coincidentally when he used his DM41X ? What is the probability of that happening ? Also, why did the printer not execute line feeds when used with my DM41X ? So, the fact that the hardware is the same does not mean that the software is the same ! Has anyone used this calculator with the thermal printer, and not experienced any problems ?

I just did a bunch of printing with a DM42, 41CL with Blinky, and DM41X. No burning issues on my 82240B. This is the one that I replaced the burned print head on previously.

I did not mean to stir up trouble by suggesting there is something wrong with the DM41X. Mine did burn up right after starting to use the DM41X with it but it seems to be working fine now.

Thanks Dan, that’s good to know. Just seemed strange that yours did the same thing. Did this happen immediately, or did it print normally for some time before failure ?

I am perplexed. Since when can you build a statistic with two events. What mean, what standard deviation to deduce.
I've been using my 82240A since the dawn of time with HP28S, DM42 and since this year with DM41X. No problem has occurred. :?:

The probability of two independent events occurring twice is the product of the probabilities. The probability of this event, namely the printer working properly with calculator A, followed immediately with it failing with calculator B is very small. Therefore, the product of these two small probabilities is even much smaller. I think you need to use a larger font.

This is not a question of measuring the probability of the appearance of two events, but rather of determining the probability of DM41X's guilt after the two events have occurred. :geek: It's quite another thing

Maybe only the units shipped to the USA are buggy.

The units shipped to the USA are the same as those shipped anywhere else. They do not fry printers. The symptoms you described are characteristic of a failing print head and this would have happened regardless of the machine you were using to drive the printer.

Of course! America first!
WP43 SN00000, 34S, and 31S for obvious reasons; HP-35, 45, ..., 35S, 15CE, DM16L S/N# 00093, DM42β SN:00041
