Re: Maybe a hp41 OFFIMG ?
Good rendition, which I'll use when my DM version arrives (if it does off-images?).
But what if the one illustrated or a DM version displaying the illustration did not work?
When my 41C developed a problem, the nature of which I don't remember, HP was then a real-world company and it was possible to take faulty devices to their Winnersh (UK) facility for instant, on-the-spot repair provided you were prepared to wait a while for a technician to become available. It was a nice summer day so I was happy to wait for as long as it took. The basic system was still operating so before setting out I put the word "FAULTY" in X. When the assigned repair technician came into Reception to collect it and get a verbal problem report the first thing he did was turn it on, whereupon it announced that it was FAULTY for itself. "How did that get there?" he asked, then shook it and tapped the casing a few times, presumably to ascertain that was not just a loose connector issue. So I think it could be useful to have an alternative image with FAULTY in the display for similar DM occasions when the off-image is still operational. Next time I have an attack of useful productivity, if I can skew the 41 font suffiently well to make it fit into the photo's display perspective nicely I will try to remember to post the result here.

The weird thing is how well it works. Or how strangely the mind works. Despite the monochrome image and display, I cannot loose the faint impression of the actual colours of the original...
