Display blink in clock mode

Post by EM41 »

Yesterday i was playing with a program containing a PSE function, I don't like this command in a regular program but it was not something I wrote myself and was planning to modify it.
I observed that in SLOW mode the PSE behaves normal and in FAST mode it executes faster (normal behaviour) so I switched to SLOW and forgot to put it back.

I always use the clock when the 41 is on my desk and in SLOW mode I see the 41X lower display line blink at irregular intervals, sometimes once a minute and sometimes 3 times or more. I don't have the real 41CX here to compare but I never saw this. I am travelling and I don't take the original with me any more.
It doesn't seem to affect any clock functionality the clock was somewhere around 14:30:00 when I started testing but it looks like it doesn't matter what is on display.
It happens in both the 4 line stack display and the other display mode. It doesn't happen in FAST mode. Does anyone else see this ?

Yes, I see the same behavior in SLOW mode. This is regardless of whether or not you have a USB connection. The flashing frequency seems random. 6s;6s;6s;19s;43s;12s;4s;29s;... No perceptible logic. Weird.

Confirmed.

Barely noticeable and hardly an annoyance, but it could be hinting at something else of a more serious nature.

I'll report it in any case and we'll see what's up.

Thanks for the report and confirmation.

I decided to test a little more in SLOW mode, I enjoy the FAST mode so much that I didn't test everything in SLOW mode.
Found another strange thing, if you start the stopwatch XEQ SW and R/S the stopwatch runs fine in FAST mode but jumps seconds and reacts slow to keys in SLOW mode. Looks like some timing problem.

Cause of this has been found and fixed, and will be included in a future release.

Thanks again for the report and confirmation w/details. I'm amazed it took all of us so long to notice this (it's been there forever) but I suppose we rarely use SLOW mode when FAST mode is available.

Great that its fixed, I think you are right, fast mode works so well that it is on all time here.
Another thing is each individuals use. I use the 41 daily but only with simple linear programs, so I will never find obscure module or synthetic bugs because I never owned any module besides he xfunctions and time module and never did any serious synthetic programmng.
But fortunately I can find some of the more simple ones :D
