My DM42 Is lost

Post by Dan Simpson »

I am curious to hear others' experiences with sending Calculators back to SM from the US For Service.
How long should a package take to get to Switzerland from the US?
I mailed mine on March 14 from Arizona and the tracking data shows that it made it to Los Angeles on March 15.
It has not yet arrived at SwissMicros.
I'm afraid it may have fallen victim to the Corona Virus?

Experienced recently that postage (1 letter, 1 padded envelope) from France took 2 weeks each to me in Germany while usually 3 days are sufficient. Seems post and logistic companies are slightly challenged these days which is understandable. Did you verify that your calculator has left LA at all?

I think I heard in the news that no parcels are processed from Germany to the US at the moment. Perhaps there are similar restrictions from US to Europe.

I contacted the USPS by telephone and gave them my tracking number, after that conversation I went and talked to the 30' tall granite boulder in my back yard. I got the same amount of information from both sources.

I imagine that it will show up sometime after all of this madness subsides. It was very bad timing on my part to send it when I did.

Package from Austria to Netherlands 12 days, from Germany 10 days.
Still waiting for a replacement PCB for the 41X, 7 days already.
Everything is slow, usually it takes 2 or 3 days max, so don't worry it will show up.

Dan, my DM41x order arrived this morning and it took exactly two weeks to arrive (10 working days) from the post date (Switzerland to the UK). Not sure if that info helps or whether your 42 has now safely arrived at SM HQ but I thought a recent benchmark might at least be useful to others reading this thread.

Last month I've ordered to the MoHPC the USB flash drive. It was sent 5 weeks ago. I have not received it yet.
I live in France. Usually, letters and parcels from the US take 10 to 15 days.

I didn't send anything to SwissMicro as the OP did. I was on the waiting list to get a DM42. I got word that it was available on 18 April and I ordered it immediately. Payment was accepted and they shipped it the same day according to the email they sent.

So now it is three weeks later and the DM42 has not arrived. I'm not worried yet, especially in the face of the covid-19 fiasco, but when do you think I should be worried that the package they sent could be lost?

I live in Maryland in the United States. Can any others here who have experience on how long the package takes to get to the U.S. chime in?

TIA!

Pre-CVH (Corona-Virus Hell) it was usually in the 7-14 day range to US, East Coast typically on the lower side of the range.

Since CVH began, I've seen reports of 3-5 weeks, but it depends a lot on port of entry, and which postal hubs it passes through, as various hubs have differing sanitizing (sanitization?) protocols which cause different delays.

<Sarcasm font on> Standardization is the bane of modern man.<sarcasm font off>.

Ordered three DM calculator covers and it took 3 weeks from Switzerland to Vancouver Canada in March.

Cheers, Geoff
