Modified the center part of our 43S due to the possibility to dump screenshots in a file (SCR.DMP):

Your sentence reads like the screen dump file is called SCR.DMP, which is of course not what you meant.

(The file, for interest, would be a BMP file and the file name would comprise the date & time and be stored in the /SCREENS/ folder of the DM42 flash drive).

Thanks for your understanding :)

I presume more readers will notice the blue label SCR.DMP on the picture I posted. 8-)

Nice having a dedicated label for this!

Did you also consider a variation of "print screen" as its name? It might be more familiar to more people, in this day and age.

Thanks, Håkon. A good idea, in principle. Alas, we don't print here - we may, however, print using the IR channel so we shouldn't mix these terms to avoid confusion. What we actually do is known as a "screenshot" here - we could abbreviate this by SC.SHOT, couldn't we? (Might raise acceptance in the Wild West.) Other terms heard are "screen capture". But instead of putting the captive on the clipboard we store it in a file (as Jaco wrote above). At the bottom line, if you know a nice short term which can be abbreviated in a way that even the most uptight people (you know where) can't link anything sexual to it then please tell us.

The old M$ standard was the PRNSCR button which in the pre Windows days actually made a screen copy via the standard LPT1 Centronics port. Why do I remember that.

M$ calls their new utility the Snipping Tool, which suggests a name "SNIP"

Apple has a new standard on their newer keyboards to have a button with an icon of a camera for the snipping tool.

I just wanted to bring it to your attention. On my Windows and Linux PC's, pressing that button takes a screenshot. On my Linux, I get the choice between relevant options which there include copying it to the clipboard or saving it to a file with a default name in a default directory, or a name and in a directory of my choosing.

On both the DM42 hardware and simulator when using WP43S, I frequently find myself in USER mode accidentally, because of a habit of pressing [f] first, incorrectly assuming a function is on f, then pressing [g] after that to correct. Vice versa as well. Now, with SCR.DMP on [f], I expect to have screen dumps accumulating unknowingly.

At least, both items on [f] and [g] double shifts are not stack destructive, but inconvenient only. But then, inconvenience, still, is undesired.

Anybody else have this hard habit to shake?

You restricted the future requirements discussion to only be visible to those currently involved with the project
It isn't as if anyone else has any idea as to what still needs to be done (beyond the vague everything that is missing).
