  1. Will the WP43S be able to perform base conversions like that of the HP16C - Binary, Octal, Hex, Decimal ?
  2. And would one be able to perform mathematical computations such as + - * / while in each base ?
  3. Will it have Bitwise Gate Logic Operations such as AND, OR, XOR, Inverse - (NOR, NAND) Shift Left, Shift Right ?
(Numbers added by me)

Answers:
  1. Yes. And more - try it out.
  2. Yes, of course. Just do it.
  3. Yes. It will do everything a WP34S can do (which is more than a HP-16C or DM16L can do).

@DiscoMike - My earlier post may not been clear on a key point. Although the 43S software is far from complete now, the manuals are probably 90-95% complete, including descriptions for all the features that have yet to be implemented. As development proceeds and new ideas and/or small issues arise, the manual will be adjusted if and as needed, but the idea is the manual Walter has written is also a Specification for the guys doing the development.

So if you are wondering if the 43S will do this or that, you can check such details in the manual now, even if the software for that feature or usage has not been developed yet. The manuals also include background and usage examples regarding how to use the specific functions to solve problems, it's much more than a simple list of functions that will be available.

Looking at the stream of bug reports ... seriously: nothing reached us so far on this forum. Either we have the best programmers we could get on this planet (of course we have!) or nobody is interested in testing (I can't believe that). So please allow me repeating what I wrote 4 weeks ago:

... I think it's about time we invite you: please take our offer, use the simulator and/or WP43S.pgm, play with it and test it as far as currently possible! Almost all menus and most of the "standard" scientific functions work (incl. logarithmic, trigonometric, and hyperbolic functions, as well as unit conversions especially for our friends off SI). What is not working yet are many statistical and probability functions, all matrix and programming operations, UNDO, ASSIGN, plus most of the so-called "advanced math". You can see the respective marks in the ReM. It also indicates our present "open construction sites" so you can see there is still a lot to do. If you happen to come across an operation not coded and implemented yet, you will get an error message telling you exactly this - fear nothing more.

So please check and test - and if you experience any documentation errors, unexpected reactions or weird returns of our software, please report your observations presenting suitable evidence here on this forum. We will do our very best to improve it (but please remember it's a hobbyist's project still and we can very easily count the number of active collaborators within).

Thanks in advance for your support! Looking forward to your reports! (Ducks and covers)
How to do? It's all explained in the manuals but I'll repeat it here ("repetitio est mater studiorum"):
  1. If you want to run the simulator then please look up App. E in the Reference Manual (ReM). Way b is the easiest:
    Open the folder https://gitlab.com/Over_score/wp43s/tre ... 20binaries .
Open README.md and proceed as described therein.
    Eventually run wp43s.exe.
  2. If you have got a DM42 and a USB data cable you can follow the procedure given in App. F of the ReM to bring WP43S on your calculator (note you can always return to the original Free42 surface - nothing will be overwritten).

    Enjoy!

I just got my SwissMicroS 42S Calculator last night, and I got the WP43S Emulator for my PC as well. It looks great. I did not have much chance to play with either one extensively. I plan to do so over the weekend.

Enjoy the 43S experience.

I'm (probably overly) hopeful that I'll get some time over the next week and a half to have a stab at the statistics.....

We're going to abandon 16-digit accuracy heading for 34-digit precision for all real and complex objects. Thus, here's another minor keyboard update:

Following our tradition, I uploaded a Christmas edition of the draft manuals today reflecting our latest modifications agreed on. Note the software update will take some time as mentioned earlier.

A better tradition would be to upload the source for the manual.
