Jaco,
I have to say... Your modified/unofficial layout is *exactly* what I would prefer myself:
1) Math operators on the right --- just like the 34S and other "late" RPN calcs
2) top-to-bottom order of math operators matches 34S and other late RPN.
3) XEQ / ↑ / ↓ / EXIT on left with same order as on 34S and other late RPN.
Bravo!

Not judging, just observing.
And though I prefer the earlier layout (since it was perfect after all) it's good IMHO that Jaco laid early groundwork for 43S users that prefer this clealry incorrect layout, for folks that were late to the game.
Well... I guess that does sound a bit like I'm judging after all.

I have to say… I’m starting to feel the same, this modified/unofficial layout is looking more familiar to me than the official one.burkhard wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 3:22 pmJaco,

One side effect of staying with the known layout above is fewer key stickers on my DM42 change when converting to WP43S (mod):
With my last layout on this list, I would have to make only 12 key front stickers for my DM42, for:
- the 6 keys on the second row (Sum(x) through XEQ),
- the 3 on the 3rd row (SIN, COS, TAN), as well as
- the 3 on the left (shift, up arrow and down arrow).
I am considering (I have not yet convinced myself) to revise the layout to reduce the number of DM42 stickers to a total of FOUR STICKERS only, by revising the layout like this:
- keep the DM42 2nd line without key stickers (saving 6 key stickers)
- use the DM42 arrow keys (saving 2 key stickers)
- move the TRI key sticker down to the DM42 yellow shift key
This would require careful juggling of the associated shifted WP43S keys in the top row w.r.t. the E+ and the XEQ buttons and that may be a big problem to solve.
Do not underestimate the meticulous effort that the dev team is putting into the manual (for the official layout). Do not underestimate the complication that a second (official) layout would have had on documentation and code. Hats off to the team.Walter wrote: (I'm not going to develop two layouts. Definitely.)
