Feature requests
Re: Feature requests
@dlachieze & ijabott: Don't take everything literally. You can choose any strange character you don't need elsewhere for starting a comment. Like " or ; or @ or {. You've got plenty of space in one row, would be a pity wasting it IMHO.

Re: Feature requests
I would like some keyboard bounce control I would pay for it!!
Re: Feature requests
Same here. Key bounce is the only flaw on the DM42.
But it's a serious flaw. I can't input anything without checking for doubled digits.

Re: Feature requests
This is really more than important and seems to be so simple to implement.Thomas Okken wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 3:02 pmNot to mention: directories, since those flat namespaces for programs and variables can become awkward once you start loading lots of programs...
Should have been fixed in « next » release. I don’t know which « next » release though.

Re: Feature requests
Since the release of the DM42, I read continuously complaints about the keyboard
I don't plan to buy this calculator because of these recurrent and unsolved keyboard problems.
SwissMicros, if you read this: you are losing potential buyers!

Re: Feature requests
Unhappy customers will more probably post their experience here than happy ones. To get an idea of the real order of magnitude, you can do as follows:
1. Forget Beta.
2. Look for min and max S/N in the posts beyond.
3. Calculate: all = max - min.
4. Count all S/N's for which keyboard complaints are posted.
5. Divide by "all".
6. Assess the resulting ratio.

Re: Feature requests
I'd like an option to use a space character as thousands separator.
Re: Feature requests
Just saying... I have purchased three DM42's & a gaggle of DMxxL's. I worked for HP in the 1980's and have a few HP calculators in my collection too. I am an electronics engineer and a calculator enthusiast. The DM42 is the best calculator I own. Hands down! I wouldn't get too stressed over the comments about keyboard bounce. These forums can sometimes major in the minors. I know everyone means well, but really the DM42 is just fantastic. If you love RPN calculators, you will love the DM42.
Re: Feature requests
The DM42 runs the Free42 simulator, which (apart from a few extensions) is a faithful reproduction of the HP-42S, and the HP-42S doesn't offer the space as a thousands separator, only the comma, the dot or no separator at all.Stefan Karlsson wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 11:45 amI'd like an option to use a space character as thousands separator.
If you want to see this in Free42 then you'll have to convince Thomas Okken that it's a worthwhile deviation from the original HP and then convince him either to write the extension himself or to accept a patch that you write.

Re: Feature requests
Someone could write a patch for this, but it won't be me... viewtopic.php?f=15&t=409&p=4829#p4829
