Post by cdmackay »

Would someone be willing to please post some screenshots of a full stack with the available stack fonts, e.g. SwissKeys and Legacy.

thank you!

Steve Simpkin posted this on FB.
From a post by Joseph Horn in the HP Calculator Fan Club FB Group:
"The DM32 currently has 5 user-selectable display fonts. One is shown in the original posting above (with bold slashed zeros). The other four are shown below. The two dot-matrix fonts are exact replicas of the HP 32SII display font."

Note that the prior post was made when an interim pre-beta version had multi-line editor enabled; this is NOT enabled for the current BETA version, but will be coming back. Just an explanatory note so no one wastes time trying to figure out how to get that mode enabled - you can't. yet.

In case it isn't obvious, the screen captures of four DM32 fonts posted above were designed to enable comparison with Swiss Micros' own DM32 example display on their website: https://www.swissmicros.com/product/model-dm32

thank you all.

I have to say, the font is one thing putting me off slightly, at least when faced with four rows of it.

But perhaps it's something that looks better in the hand, than on the screen.

Indeed it does look better "live" IMHO. The screen images make the fonts look bolder and more garish. I prefer the darker of the two 32Sii style fonts. I like the original feel and it's also the most "comfortable" for my eyes, if there such a thing.

The DM32 screen captures in the posting above make the screen fonts look far bigger than they really are. The truth is that the HP 32SII screen characters are 6.5mm high, whereas the DM32 screen characters are 5mm high, as can be seen in this single simultaneous scan of 3 models. I personally find all 5 of the DM32 screen fonts to be more readable than the 32SII font. The actual DM32 display is black on very light gray; the apparent color of the DM32 LCD background in the photo below is an artifact of my scanner, and not present when held in normal lighting.

I'm curious; may I ask: which font, and why?
