DM41X here! two or more requests

The Beta programme is where a device becomes fully formed. If you have any suggestions for features to integrate into the DM41X then feel free to make them here. We can't guarantee that they'll all end up in the final product but we'll certainly consider all sensible proposals.

DM41X here! two or more requests

Post by salvomic »

hi,
since a few minutes DM41X is here, beside the sister DM42 :)

I've also a HP 41CX, but with DM41X I'm a "noobie", so sorry if I ask a bit...
1. is it possible to load more programs at a time as in DM42?
I tried to load, to test my little programs (Epoch and Leap: see DM42 software section) but loading one the other is no more in memory...
Then "Leap" (it uses flags/annunciators) return also a "non exixtent" message. Is there a tool to encode the code specifically for DM41X? I'm using the same for DM42.

2. I would try to load Math 1 and Advantage module, but no luck. Setup->Load module... I see only a "Parent directory" (the modules are already in /mods, I can see them in USB mode), only I'm not able to load them :)

3. Other tips and hints very appreciated.

1. Yes of course you can load several programs. Shift CATALOG 1 should show you the different programs in your DM41X memory. The HP42S is compatible with the HP41C which means that programs from the 41 should work on the 42, but the reverse is not always true as there are new instructions on the 42. When you get the "non existent" error message go in PRG mode to see the failing instruction.

2. See 4.1. Quick Module Load in the DM41X manual for a simple way to load modules

Well, thanks.
2. I'm reading the manual now, and I'm succeeding to Plug the modules and use them (at least Math)...
1. I was able with CST key.
I'm seeing now for "non existent", however the two little programs with R/S work the same. I'll remove the wrong instructions.

One more thing: when you load a raw file you need first to do a GTO .. , otherwise the program loaded is replacing the last program in memory (as for the 41 GETP extended memory function).

yes!
and that was my error: doing GTO .. solve.
However I need to encode the programs for 41X, as there are 4-5 strange lines in PRG Epoch.

Yes, your Epoch program uses some 42 Menu instructions (KEY, MENU, CLMENU) which are not recognized by the 41.

DM42 beside DM41X...

A FAQ I don't remember now: is there a way to set the contrast when on (for both)? :-)

No way for setting contrast - this LCD works with full contrast always, even when turned off.
WP43 SN00000, 34S, and 31S for obvious reasons; HP-35, 45, ..., 35S, 15CE, DM16L S/N# 00093, DM42β SN:00041

I made a stand to place the calculator at a nice angle to reduce the glare. More info here:
