Additional Option for the SI Screen

The Beta programme is where a device becomes fully formed. If you have any suggestions for features to integrate into the DM41X then feel free to make them here. We can't guarantee that they'll all end up in the final product but we'll certainly consider all sensible proposals.

Additional Option for the SI Screen

Post by TwoWeims »

Would it be possible to add another screen option that would suppress the display of the Alpha Register?

When something is built up in the Alpha Register and then displayed with AVIEW you wind up with duplicate displays.
See the attached High Roller Game screen shot for example.

Don't look up?

Sorry... not very constructive...

We considered a slightly different feature wherein the Alpha register would automatically be displayed there only when you want to see it, but the auto-sense-what-the-user-wants component grew too big and had to be dropped.

Electrical tape also works.

I was not requesting that the dual line display be eliminated all together. It is most definitely a welcome addition. But existing programs written for an actual 41 expect that there is only one display line so it would be nice to have an additional option for a single line display for those cases.

I understood the request and completely agree for the same reasons that you are mentioning.
It's just that I found it ironic to have such a big display and that at the end, because of the huge existing library of programs expecting to have 1 line display we are going back to 1 line. ;)

The DSP key could rotate between showing four lines (XYZT), two line SI and one line SI modes. In one line SI mode the extra space could be used to show the current module configuration.

Just a thought.

Quite a few 41 programmes assume a one line display. They'll display an alpha message and assume that X isn't displayed.

I'd like to see a (larger) single line display as an option. Perhaps one of the high numbered flags could be used for this?
