Save FOCAL's and ROM's from the 41OS

The Beta programme is where a device becomes fully formed. If you have any suggestions for features to integrate into the DM41X then feel free to make them here. We can't guarantee that they'll all end up in the final product but we'll certainly consider all sensible proposals.

Hi

I like to have follwing commands directly in the 41OS: (without using the setup menu)

"FILENAM" XEQ "FLSAVE" -> Save the Focal Programm in flash as .RAW
"FILENAM" XEQ "FLLOAD" -> Load FOCAL .RAW from flash to the DM41X memory
"FILENAM" XEQ "FLXSAVE" -> Save the X-Memory to flash
"FILENAM" XEQ "FLXLOAD" -> Load the X-Memory to flash

and for ROM (RAM) pages:
X=<Port> "FILENAM" XEQ "FLRSAVE" -> Save the ROM in Port (X>=8<=15) to flash
X=<Port> "FILENAM" XEQ "FLRLOAD" -> Load the ROM in Port (X) to flash

Yes, that would be great indeed! Much better than having to use a menu.

Excellent idea! Nice to be key assignable.


Why not mimic the extended memory commands:

EXTENDED = EXTENDED MIMIC = YOURS
____________________________

SAVEP = PSAVE = FLSAVE

GETP = PGET = FLLOAD

PURFL = FLPUR = xxxxx

While these are great ideas, I would not like to see any additions to the base OS. The DM41X should be in essence as close to an actual 41CX as possible. I think the object of this project was not to develop a new calculator but to faithfully reproduce the HP-41 experience with modern hardware.

Perhaps a new ROM could be developed that would incorporate all of the good ideas that were not original features?

Yes,

Stay original. We all learned that on the DM 42.

These options could be added to the plugged in DM41X ROM which stays resident at all time. It would be an addendum to that ROM which already adds the FLASH ROM state and file saving abilities. Being a ROM it would then have key assignable commands.
