Any timeline for the "Multiline Editor bugs" corrections?

Post by Boub65 »

Hello SM team,
do we have any timeline for the "Multiline Editor Bugs" and especially the one deleting more than one line when we remove a line from a program?
There is no way to bypass this bug (except remembering what was the next intruction that got deleted to add it again).
This one bug is REALLY anoying and forbids (me) from editing programs directly on the calculator.
I have to edit my programs on my PC and upload the raw files generated with the DM42 encoder.

And more generally... do we have any timeline for new DM41X firmware correcting the bugs found ?
Or do we have to wait until DMCP5 (and it's fair enought if the bugs are corrected) ?
Sincèrement, Sincerely, 73,
Boubker

DM15L, DM41L, DM42 #00855 (domes upgraded), DM41X #00707
HP48SX (with dark screen), HP42s, HP32SII (1990 with fraction bug), HP41C/CV
TI-89 titanium, CASIO fx-cg50 and Numworks (to play with micropython)

Not any time soon, to be quite honest. Work on DMCP5 for the new h/w design is underway and has the focus for a while, to be followed by completing the DM32, and then work on other existing models could take place. That is probably not before late Spring of '23.

Also, to clarify a possible misconception, DMCP5 does not pertain to the DM42 or DM41X, those are DMCP3 products built on the current platform. In general, DMCP5 will not be back-ported onto the current PCB design, though it is feasible some small DMCP5 features could end up being used there if beneficial in some way.

Hope that clarifies the near-term roadmap priorities.

Thanks for the info @bob.

Nethertheless, it would be great if "down the road" we could have a DM41X Firmware update with few of the identified bugs corrected...

I support this request, as will - no doubt - many others.

I also would like the font bug(s) to be fixed, although they are not nearly as frustrating.

Despite spending al my spare time on documenting the C43, I still love my 41s and "clones"!

Keep up the good work at SM!
