Hello DM41X dev team!
I have newly received the DM41X and am impressed by its fidelity to the HP41. But I wonder: can an alternate font be provided to the LCD one that the calculator currently emulates? I understand some people might have used the HP41 for decades and want only that font but I find it hard to read, especially in smaller sizes where more lines are displayed. It is especially easy to get the >=, *, etc. symbols wrong. I hope the development team will consider the provision of an alternate font as an option.
Regards,
Tanveer.

Re: Request for feature: alternate font
As the 41X was clearly aimed at 41 fans, the decision was made early on to implement the original 14-segment LCD to provide the closest possible match with the original experience (but a lot faster and easier to use of course). As such, there is no current plan to provide alternate fonts.
If symbols are hard to make out, just toggle through the various views with the [DSP] key, which can be used in nearly all modes and even during partial command or Alpha-string entry while in PRGM mode.

Re: Request for feature: alternate font
I understand the attraction of keeping the original look including the flying goose. I'm not familiar with the code but unless the code is dealing with individual LCD segments, it should not be difficult to provide an alternate font. Again, I'm not demanding this in any way, just suggesting that the devs could consider it for the future.
Re: Request for feature: alternate font
Just FYI, the display has an active area of 58.8 mm × 35.3 mm and 400 × 240 quadratic pixels. So each pixel is 147 µm squared. Now you may create your font. Watch visibility etc. Enjoy (I did for the 43S)!

Re: Request for feature: alternate font
I would be glad too if such a feature was added. And about the font, no fancy font is required, the default font of the hp42 or dm42 would be nice.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having the 42S font available as an option. It would certainly be nice for the multi-line program editor, if nothing else.
Re: Request for feature: alternate font
Before this gets to be too much of a landslide, I'll cast my vote - no, please do not change the font away from the original-looking HP-41 font.
If a change is considered, please make it a selectable option buried somewhere.

Re: Request for feature: alternate font
Completely agree, don't remove the 41 font! I'd only want optional extras.
