Jesus Christ Walter!
Oooh Massimo, I'd never have called me this way! But if you do...

(It's like the postcard stating: Let's eat grandpa! And considerably smaller below: Punctuation can save lifes.)
I'm sure that you're older than 33.
So what? All fake news! (or better: fake olds!)

Please allow me reminding you: the HP-42 was launched some years after the HP-41C. Guess which font is more progressive? What's the reason for your wish to rewind technical development? Why should anyone choose a font featuring less resolution? Just want to understand...
Indeed, solid arguments. The HP Quick Calc should become the new reference.

Ah, the HP Quick Calc is HP's flagship calculator? I must have missed something -- but wait: it has a segmented font... :?

The HP42 was not a progression with respect to the HP41, missing io, no external program storage and bad display, to name just a few made clear to me that is was not an option to replace my 41 with a 42.
Also the font was clearly worse than the 41 font but a compromise because the display had to be used to display more than just numbers and a dot display is more flexible.
All this is now outdated by the much better DM displays, both the DM 41 and 42 are basically outdated calcs but with their own share of enthusiasts.
If you want something really new and progressive convert one of your calcs in a WP43/

It shares this characteristic with the HP-42S.

Exactly that's the worst part of the HP-41C font: when they used it for alpha display. But they didn't have anything better then. Meanwhile, we've seen some decades of technical/technological progress.

I am patiently waiting for the WP43 hardware, in the mean time running WP43 on linux.
But if it takes too long I am afraid I have to convert the DM41beta :D

Unless you need a programmable calculator.

Correct as almost always, Massimo. Though I read recently at another place that programmability isn't a key feature of calculators nowadays anymore. Nevertheless you'll get it from us - it will just take some more time.
