USB-powered without battery?

Post by Walter »

This may be a dumb question but I don't want to kill a good DM4x for the experimental answer ;) :

Is it safe to power a DM4x via USB only? Without a battery installed? The manuals don't tell anything about it AFAICS. And Godwin's posts in another thread confused me a bit ... Thanks in advance for a reliable answer.

Godwin's post was slightly in error, his comment is correct about the Dm1x (Voyager style) machines.

The DM4x should have a good battery installed, even when you run it off USB power. It is unlikely to be damaged if you run it w/o a battery, but there is no reason to take a chance. ;)

Thanks, Bob. I'd suggest putting a corresponding note in the manuals of DM41X and DM42.
