In the US, when someone says almost 8 inches (no matter what the topic) they're talking about the length of a certain part of the body.

On this part of the pond we use handbreadths for that...
Now back on track, uh?

Re: HP-41X Alpha Legend Style
It is not actually unreasonable. The original stickers are 35mm wide and the rear of the DM is 75mm wide.Geoff Quickfall wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 5:21 amThats good, as I just purchased +5.00 helpers for my glasses.
They would fit side-by-side with no reduction necessary. If they were printed sideways like the original they could even be enlarged a bit.
My Collection: HP-55, HP-67 (Teenix Mod), HP-15C, HP-16C, HP-41CV, HP-41CX, SY41-CL, DM41X, DM42, HP-42S, HP-48G, HP-71B, HP-75C, HP-86B.

Re: HP-41X Alpha Legend Style
I agree, but my eyes are 40 years older than my 1980 HP 41
Just kidding, yes, lots of real estate Available!

This picture is a textbook example why one should never start measuring at the worn end of a scale.Dan Simpson wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 11:55 pmThe original stickers are 35mm wide and the rear of the DM is 75mm wide. ...

I'd suggest a value of 73 mm for the flat part of the rear where printing is viable.

Re: HP-41X Alpha Legend Style
I think I better edit my post!
My eyes are 40 years older now then they were when I bought my first HP 41c with extended memory and functions.
If I do the math, in 1980 I was 23. I am now almost 63. About the +5.00 helpers, I use those for extremely close up work like watch servicing.
