SN#56 : same problem here, latest firmware.

The problem seem related to the keyboard scanning, interrupt or something in this line.
Great analysis, this explain why it doesn't happen all the time.
Also good to know its not just my machine.

Thanks to all that contributed to this bug report, especially to EM41 for raising it and Sylvain for the program to characterize it.

Since this is more of an annoyance than a true problem, it will be investigated eventually and we'll report results here in the Forum.

Thanks! :)

Re: DM41X Beta Programme - back shell sticker needed

Post by anetzer »

The final version definitely needs the Alpha Key Layout printed onto the back of the case, just like HP's calculators had it. Does not necessarily have to be in colour and can leave room for other useful and more arcane table at the top or bottom.

I just want to point to the rear sides go the voyager series calculators which also served as operating manuals in a nutshell.

Thank you!

Agree, not because I really need it but more for historical/sentimental reasons.

There is no interest or plan for the 41X to add either 'normal' fonts or customized stack displays;
I do appreciate the great labour that went into the faithful implementation of core 41 features on that new hardware platform. It is set to be my main calc for years to come.

But please reflect: The main differentiating factor is a totally different display. It needs no argument that readability and full exploitation of the screen area are the main goals to be achieved with any calculator. And this display can only fulfil its potential by using a typeset that is adequate for a matrix display.

I am therefore decidedly arguing for a display mode that makes use - in program and in run mode - of the typeset that is used in system and dmcl menus.
