DM41X Beta Programme

Post by grsbanks »

The Beta Programme for the new SwissMicros DM41X calculator is now open!

Image

The DM41X is built upon the same hardware platform as the DM42.

This is a hardware emulation of the HP-41CX but also with the full complement of 600 registers of Extended Memory. Unlike the DM41 and DM41L, the DM41X has the ability to virtual-plug ROM modules into the system, ROM modules that can be transferred to the 41X via USB.

The 41X supports the same format of memory dump as the DM41(L) so you can transfer the state of one calculator to the other lock, stock and barrel.

The IR Module is emulated so the 41X can print to the HP-82240B thermal printer.

A full user manual is in preparation and will be made available shortly but if you would like to get your hands on a DM41X Beta unit (they have been produced in limited number) then please do head on over to this page and place your order.
There are only 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who do not.

Hmmh. Beyond nostalgia, what can the DM41X do on top of a vintage HP-41CX? And can I get rid of that (simulated) 14-segment font in 2020? (That was an achievement in 198x but isn't anymore nowadays IMHO.)
WP43 SN00000, 34S, and 31S for obvious reasons; HP-35, 45, ..., 35S, 15CE, DM16L S/N# 00093, DM42β SN:00041

Yes, that's only YHO.
I love it and would probably keep it even if it can be changed to another prettier font. :P

I'm most willing to let you keep your favourite font. But there may be an option to choose something more readable on the phantastic display we both know...

I have one on order.

I also love the 14 Segment Font. I do admit nostalgia here but that font will always represent HP in my mind.
The 41 Series came out while I was in college. This was the pinnacle of HP "Style".
I really think the dot matrix font on the Pioneers was ugly and made them look cheap.

I do like the Font on my DM42 it is beautiful and clear, but a 41 has to have the 14 segment font or it is just not a 41...

My Humble Opinion...

Nah, the font in the HP-42S display is beautiful.
It is its poor contrast that makes it look cheap.
