I got mine today! It probably arrived earlier but I was in Ecuador for a couple of weeks and my mail was on hold.
I got serial number 40... As Maxwell Smart used to say... "Missed it by that much"!

I've only been playing with it for a few minutes and I like what I see so far.
My next step will be to try to plug in some modules in the same configuration as my 41CL and then start comparing the two.

... Best thing, serial number 0065! Serial number 41 was already taken so 65 in homage to the first HP programmable works for me!
Mine is only "00015", not as your "ancestor" one, I could not pay it at that time... And the 15c never came to me, I did buy the 16c for my job as an IT guy , great for debugging my HP3000 programs, and more, I was unable to explain to my wife how those devices were so unbelievable :(

But nothing did surpass the 41C, except the 42s of course, and now, I let you guess her Majesty... the DM42, best ever among all !

I just upgraded my firmware to version 1.11t01. Being that this is the very first time for me with my very first SM calculator, I was anxious. It went just perfectly - I followed the Quick Update Guide found in the User's Manual.

Thanks very much, Swiss Micros, for a great calculator, and such excellent support here.

I've been saving the state of my calculator from time to time, mostly as a way to save all the little programs that I've entered and got running. When I've been saving the state, I (mostly) use numbers to indicate the date of the save, like 020420. Occasionally, I've had trouble finishing off the save state function, and I've tried a number of different things until I successfully finished. Today, I finally found out what has been causing this problem for me:

In the Save DM41 State File action, you are allowed to use the shift key to toggle among lower case letters, upper case letters, and numbers, to build the file name. You must be in lower case letter mode or the Save DM41 State File action will not respond to the R/S or ALPHA key to finish. This is not explicitly stated in the User's Manual. I don't know if this should be classified as a software issue or not. For me, knowing this is all I need. I would suggest a note in the User's Manual.

Thanks for listening!

I would say yes, this is a bug; consider this reported. Thanks.

Isn't the FAT filesystem case-insensitive, and stores all letters in filenames as uppercase, regardless of how they're entered?

edit: or does it use VFAT extensions for longer filenames etc?

Mine arrived today. One question: what does the CST/CONF button do?

It appears to not be registering on my unit. E.g. shift CONF does nothing and leaves the shift annunciator lit.

Bad key or bad user?

If it's any consolation, it does the same thing on mine. It's not in the manual either so I have no idea what it's for.

I noticed this curious section in the Manual:

"3.2. CSTM menu
To be implemented …"

I am thinking that "CST" is short for CSTM?
