Maybe it is possible to get by with the Deepl translator? It translates into simplified Chinese.
也许可以用Deepl翻译器来搞定?它可以翻译成简体中文。

Walter wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 3:24 pm@danielCL: It's easier than you might be aware of. The mechanical dimensions of the keyboards of all portrait calculators produced so far through SwissMicros (DM41X, DM42, WP43, and later C43 (and DM32?)) are identical. So one overlay geometry will fit all. Just the labels printed on them are different. AFAICS, the labels of the first three are constant, C43 might change in development still. WP43 (and C43) is user-customizable, thus also white overlays will be needed to be filled in manually.
Please don't hesitate to ask if you have further questions.
ADDENDUM in a nutshell FYI if you don't know it already:And I know a bit of written and spoken Mandarin but by far not sufficient for orders or business.
- DM42 and DM41X are entirely designed by SwissMicros. You find them on their website.
- WP43 uses the basic HW of SwissMicros with a community-developed SW and UI. You find all about it on this forum under Discuss.
- C43 is another community project. It uses the basic ideas of WP43 but develops a different SW and UI. You find all about it on this forum under Discuss again.
- DM32 will be launched by SwissMicros in 2023 or 2024, AFAIK.
Thanks for the explanation. Well, I can do a volume order if there is high demanding. But before that, I need to understand how c43 works. Just wonder if I can convert dm41 to c43. Or, I must have a DM42 ?
I also like to know what is the "white overlays" refer to?
Re: DM41 overlay
My understanding is that the hardware inside the calculator is the same. The keyboard layout is different; however.
C43 was defined to use keys printed similarly to the DM42. The prints on the DM41X keys do not match. Therefore, in addition to an overlay for the keyboard background, stickers would be needed on the keys.
So the DM41X hardware should be flashable to C43, without stickers for the keys, and overlay for the background of the keyboard it would be cumbersome to use.
If you are up for it, there is a method to change key functions or bindings. If you read through the long C43 post, you can see the long process that determined the layout as presented. It was not easy for the team to finalize all of the functions and there locations on the keyboard.

Re: DM41 overlay
For sake of clarity: You should have a DM42 if you want to convert it to a C43 easily.ctrclckws wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 10:21 amMy understanding is that the hardware inside the calculator is the same. The keyboard layout is different; however.

About the "white overlays": Decades ago, the HP-41 was the first HP allowing for customizing by (re-) assigning functions on its keyboard. At that time you could get white (a.k.a. blank) overlays, where you could write your assignments on. Something like that will be needed for the WP43 as soon as you customize its keyboard. I assume it will be needed for the C43 as well.
WP43 SN00000, 34S, and 31S for obvious reasons; HP-35, 45, ..., 35S, DM16L S/N# 00093, 42β SN:00041
