Hi Nigel,

I’m having difficulty typing/finding the symbol delta x or delta Greek d, even outside of a program. How do I find these characters? Do I call the program (symbol)delta (Greek) d? How do I type the delta (symbol) d (Greek character) into the label command?
Here's an example of a program that you can use:

LBL'\(\Delta X\)'
RCL 99
END

You enter the first line like this:
  • LBL
  • ENTER - enters alpha mode;
  • SHIFT SHIFT D - enters capital Delta;
  • X
  • ENTER - leaves alpha mode and completes the label
This program lets you change the value of \(\epsilon\) by storing different numbers in register 99 (you can clearly choose a different register if you prefer!). It also means that you can move the \(\Delta X\) program into the flash region, as you won't need to edit it when you change \(\epsilon\).

I've tried using SLV along with the LBL'\(\Delta X\)' program above to find the zeros of the derivative of the function in your original post. With 0.1 stored in register 99 I get the result that you give; with 0.01 stored in register 99 I get 0.25 as the location of the extremum. So that seems to work!

So you seduced our little WP34S using cheap menus... :(

Somewhere, I think I read that the epsilon should be about 3root of number of digits utilized by calculator...I chose 1E-6. The extremum was found accurate to all 16 digits!

Just a little joke, as wipe-clean menus are associated more with the less classy restaurants.

As there has not been any new comment on the QRG, I've updated the QRG to rev 1.0 above:
  • Updated Integrate menu with f'(x) and f''(x)
  • Minor wording changes for f DISP and f CUSTOM
  • Minor cosmetic changes overall in text alignment & paragraph spacing
This is now the final version of the QRG. I'm not planning any new change unless someone comes with a change request.
