Perfect behaviour in terms of going to sleep after the last keypress. Then switch-off after 10 mins.

The test was the same as before: Switch-on, wait 1 sec, press 111 and let it run.

On the latest result you can even see it goes to sleep inbetween key presses. Which is good.

That's great! Thank you for your help.

For anyone else reading this, new builds of the wp34s, wp34c, and wp34s_4k pgm files are now available in the usual place. Battery consumption should be significantly reduced now due to sleep being entered correctly after each keypress.

Edit: a few minor corrections have been made to the help file (help/wp34s_help.html). If you're updating a wp34s program, copy this into your HELP folder at the same time.

Thanks Jaymos and Nigel !

I've updated to the latest version (105) but when I run the program from the DMCP menu, I get an error message "Can't open". I don't know what it is trying to open.

I also got that, but I was focused on the power so I forgot to mention that.

When the calculator program first starts it tries to load three files - the file containing the calculator state (RAM file), a backup file, and a library file. Your message means that at least one of these three didn't open, probably because it didn't exist!

Have you just changed from a wp34c program file to a wp34s program file? Or from wp34c or wp34s to wp34s_4k? The RAM files and backup files aren't compatible between these versions (and they have different file names) so this could be the cause of your error.

The library file is compatible across all three versions.

The RAM file is written whenever you EXIT the program. You can also write it by hand using SvRAM in the SETUP menu; use a file name of wp34s.dat or wp34s-4k.dat . A backup file can be created using OnSTO, also in the SETUP menu.

Let me know if this helps, or if the problem remains.

I may be making silly mistakes, but I cannot type a _ in the file name (for wp34s_top).

I also excited the program numerous times, and it seems not to auto save a name.

I'm assuming you're using wp34s_top.pgm: just wp34s.dat is all that is needed for normal, long, or top.

Are you exiting using EXIT from the Setup menu? That really ought to save the RAM file.

I don't know where you are trying to type a '_' , but if it's in Setup menu SvRAM command, then the '_' character is available through the F1 key.

For me every time I press EXIT in the Setup menu, the file wp34s.dat in the wp34s directory is updated, both with wp34s.prgm and wp34s_top.prgm.

Thanks, the RAM and libray files were present but not the backup file, so I pressed OnSTO in the SETUP menu and that solved the issue: no more "Can't open" message.

Have you changed the menu display management? After pressing OnSTO the menu went fully blank, but the keys retained their functions from the Setup menu.

I also noticed that Shift ASSIGN is no more toggling the default menu as it was previously and as described in the help.

No, I was exiting by directly calling SYSTEM every time.
