When the calculator program first starts it tries to load three files - the file containing the calculator state (RAM file), a backup file, and a library file. Your message means that at least one of these three didn't open, probably because it didn't exist!
The library file is compatible across all three versions.
The RAM file is written whenever you EXIT the program. You can also write it by hand using SvRAM in the SETUP menu; use a file name of wp34s.dat or wp34s-4k.dat . A backup file can be created using OnSTO, also in the SETUP menu.
Thanks, the RAM and libray files were present but not the backup file, so I pressed OnSTO in the SETUP menu and that solved the issue: no more "Can't open" message.
Have you changed the menu display management? After pressing OnSTO the menu went fully blank, but the keys retained their functions from the Setup menu.
I also noticed that Shift ASSIGN is no more toggling the default menu as it was previously and as described in the help.
I tried f[0] OnSTO [EXIT] EXIT [2] (run program) and still "can't open".

I haven't intentionally changed the menu display management, but something that I have done means that the menu is not always being redrawn properly. Shift ASSIGN is still working, but the menu isn't being displayed. It must be a recent change that I have made ...

Both of these problems had the same cause - a single line of code had gone missing, near where I had been doing some editing. I've uploaded the fixed files.

Perfect, with the latest files the menus work as expected. Thanks for the quick fix!
Hi Nigel, I checked the gitlab page and discovered that there has been several improvements implemented, including a new αHELP command and new menus of alpha labels in RAM and LIB accessible via the keys RAM and LIB in the User Menu menu.
I like it, having a menu with the different user programs in the WP34S memory directly visible and accessible as on the 42S is really great !
Thank you for reminding me about this! There were a few bugs in the code when I first wrote it (now fixed) and somehow I never got around to publicising this latest feature. I'm glad you like it: I too find it useful.
I've also added the updated QRG file to the help/ folder of the gitlab site. Many thanks for this.
Something I'd also forgotten to upload is a minor bug fix to do with annunciators. This is now done; anyone reading this might like to download the latest build, even if they don't want to use the new commands.
