Potential for a STM32U5 based DM42

This is where developers can exchange ideas and ask questions relevant to the DM42 firmware.

An HP-50G with a more traditional center-left ENTER placement would already be very nearly my ideal graphing calculator.
The rest of the SM upgrades would just be icing on the cake!
Agreed, I'd love a modern 50G++ calc with keyboard layout of an HP48GX, high accuracy like DM42, and Sharp memory display like DM42/41X (but, ideally, side- or top-lit). Some of us need ability to use our calcs in darker conditions.
DM42, DM16L, and a menagerie of HPs thanks to CAS (Calc Acq Syndrome)!

I would consider buying a faster DM42; however, more RAM would make it a must buy for me.

If they are to switch to USB-C too (not essential but nice to have), some minor PCB changes would be needed but nothing major again.
Don't forget that USB-C will also require a new case design.

USB-C connector is a bit thicker and wider than Micro-USB.
Should fit the case footprint as it happened on smartphones.

SM may just need to change the lower case USB hole punching tools.

Would be great if possible to use that newer STM µcontroler together with the latest Plus42 simulator from Thomas Okken the author of the Free42, the actual DM42 "brain".

Plus42 is an advanced scientific programmable calculator app. It simulates the
Hewlett-Packard 42S calculator, with many features added on top, to give it
power closer to the RPL calculators by HP, but without sacrificing the familiar
RPN programming style many users prefer.

I think a lot of existing DM42 users would be eager to upgrade to a new version (maybe called DM42S) based on the STM32U5 and equipped with USB-C. Who else would be eager to buy such a device?
I just took delivery of my DM42 in May. There's no way I'm upgrading to a new version while this one still functions.

I'd love this, too, but with HP-50g or HP-15C ink colors (not HP-48GX ink colors). I suspect the wait will be a long one, though . . .

Let’s go! I’m in. Would love an extra row of hardware keys for a 48 or 50 variant.
Waiting for SM to release DM42 hardware with one additional row of keys.

That is super cool! An HP48GX on the DM 42 platform holds great promise.
