I disagree. Keeping this layout--with the Enter key in its current place--would allow SW to reuse the existing Voyager case hardware. It also maintains the aesthetic of the Voyager layout to which many of us are deeply attached.

DM42L version.
Do not forget the annunciators in alpha mode. The reserve column can also be used as a hint that all annunciators can be seen by pressing (Shift) ANNUN.
If the operators have to go left, they must be in the order '-', '+', '*' and '/'.....
EDIT: x^2, NOT 2^x and some other corrections

Well, if the ENTER key can't move, maybe the UP / DOWN arrow keys could swap places with EXIT / SHIFT?Mark Hardman wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2018 5:53 pmI disagree. Wait, wait... That might make the SHIFT key more accessible by both sides, as shiftable keys are all over the place? And EXIT is not that frequently used, so it does not have to be in a particular place?

I think I prefer Dani R's version. A balance between voyager and HP42s. Given that the buttons cannot be where they are for the HP42s matching more closely to the DM-41 makes more sense to me.
Re: Landscape DM42?
Wow. some designs
Here's a way in order to move the display to the right and keep the correct keys aligned with the display. At the same time make it similar to the 15C.

Re: Landscape DM42?
You know what? I'm going to have to apologise for this, but I've changed my mind. The DM-42L without the large screen would be too much of a compromise. Having played with the DM-41 for a bit, I've decided that it can do almost everything that I'd need the DM-42L to do except complex numbers, matrices, and that screen. I have changed my mind and I think the lack of the big screen is a deal-breaker.
If a DM-42L appeared with a screen compatible with the HP-42s but in landscape format, I'd buy it, but I certainly won't be pushing for it any more. I prefer the landscape format, bit it'd be such a big rework to get it to work with the DM-42 screen as large as it is, it just isn't possible and the DM-42 as it is now is so close to perfect as it is.
I'm embarrassed to say, I was wrong. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and distress I've caused.

You can tell when someone is dishonest to themselves.
Keith, tell us straight in the face that you would be indifferent to a DM42L if it looked something like...
