@keithdalby: annunciators are annunciators are annunciators - invisible annunciators are no annunciators!

@all: Do you really need x: and y: displayed? What could be done with that space? Just food for thought ... ;)

Up, Down, Shift and RAD indicators. The entire area can be used for the Running and Printing indicators. Grads? Maybe drop the right leg of the Greek letter Pi to make an uppercase Gamma--Gamma for Grads? Its a stretch.

What about either x: and y:, or x: and the menu? We already have a way to toggle the menu.

Gamma for Grads is a stretch for me - but what are the alternatives? How would you represent radians / degrees?

However, please feel free using it and make suggestions how the buttons of a DM42L could be arranged.

Could not resist the opportunity to move the 42s primary operator keys to where god intended--the left.
Methinks the ENTER key should be shifted one row to the right, next to the numeric keys. Anybody else?

For the annunciators, how about this:
DM42La.png
DM42La.png (525 Bytes) Viewed 5509 times
Lower line: shift, degrees, rad, grad (the latter three compete for the same space).

I like. Although a degrees annunciator is perhaps not necessary?

Agreed.

So the next question is: how hard is this to implement?

And perhaps the UP / DOWN ARROW keys a few columns to the left? They seem to me like a job for my left thumb. Perhaps to column #3 from the left, it feels kind of "right" to let the SHIFT and EXIT keys have column #2.

Much better than Pi and Gamma. Since the original 42s has no degree annunciator, I think it is unnecessary.
