That's a video posted 3 years ago showing a prototype model that stayed in the prototype phase.

Subsequent prototypes, the beta version and the final version were all portrait mode.

You're a little late to the party with that. We've also had discussions on how to deal with the insufficient number of pixels on the DM42L display already. I imagine SwissMicros aren't working on it at all now, but I hope I'm wrong!

Edited to add: grsbanks beat me to it

Been there - that is an old milestone. Would have been a HP-42 clone with little to no progress. Luckily, we succeeded in convincing Michael to abandon that track and turning to portrait. Else we would not have got the display we may experience now.

Edit: even two folks were faster here.

Not only me, many more are happy about it obviously. Just an experimental fact based on observation.

Feel free to strive for it. 8-)

I feel free to consider a portrait layout being the better solution here (BTW: I didn't do the convincing on a forum, and I had some comprehensible reasons Michael accepted, of course, else it wouldn't have been made). Personally, I don't see a major value in launching such a DM42L after the DM42 is on the market - beyond a collector's batch if it should be worth the work which is SM's decision again.

Fair enough, but a credit card sized DM42L in my shirt pocket would be a dream come true. Collector edition or not, it would quickly become my main calculator. Even a voyager-sized DM42L would by lovely.

I tend to use my DM41L more than my DM42 because of the form factor. Sure, you see no advantage, no reason, no benefit. I do, and whilst I may be in the minority, it's still something I'd like to see.

And yes, completely in SwissMicros hands.

Typo: should say 'you SEE no advantage'. My apologies
