New Members Not Allowed?

Post by toml_12953 »

I've heard from several people who said they've applied for membership here and haven't been approved. Does anyone know why that might be? Some have applied more than once after a long interval and not heard back at any time.

I process most new member requests and nearly all are done within a day. Were these submitted recently? There are none pending now.

Also, applications to join submitted from VPNs and other means of hiding/misleading location, etc. are rejected per policy; maybe this is the case?

Finally, are they sure they have simply not forgotten their pw? This can feel like not having an account of course.

If none of the above apply, please get their info and pass it on to me via PM.

Thanks Tom

I don't trust my memory 100% on this, so take it with some skepticism, but I think I waited quite some time for a confirmation email to say that my registration had gone through and eventually got tired of waiting and just tried logging in, which worked.

That might be wrong on some details, but I did register quite recently and recall there being a pretty long delay for some part of the process but it all working out anyway, just not exactly according to the instructions I had read.

Hmm. Well, indeed.

I registered several days ago and, as you can see, the “just logging in” technique works :-)

I didn’t receive any emails (regarding the registration) at all though. (not even in my spam folder)

I registered a few days ago and got approved about a day later, so pretty quick. Now, my posts seem to take a couple of hours to a day to get approved.
