Here are some thoughts and suggestions regarding the FINancial menu for C47 in g‑8⃣
1. It is obvious that it has been inherited from the WP43, and that Δ% has been added in a poor location. If the users are displaying this menu, they certainly want Δ% to be in direct access.
2. It is a good idea to add some basic one variable stat functions. They work well with the percentages and they would complete the %Σ function.
Bug report: today %Σ does not work, giving ∞ every time.
3. In particular, it is usefull to add a way to easily compute the deviation of any value from the mean value using (Δ%). That means adding x̄.
4. (Optional) It might be interesting to add a function that gives both %Σ and Δ%x̄ at the same time in X and Y. (Not presented in the picture.)
Here is a proposal to reorganize this menu.
(n is the n from the PLOT menu.)

Re: [C47] FINancial menu
Good points. I like it.
1. Agree
2. Basic stat can be added the way you propose. However there is no 1D stat. 1D stat means you simply ignore Y and the 2nd D.
Btw the bug is fixed. You must be the first testing this because its been like that forever .
3. Fair enough
4. What shall we call it?

Re: [C47] FINancial menu

Sounds good to me.

Re: [C47] FINancial menu
Considering that the g‑row is accessible by a double "click", we should put the least useful commands on the f‑row.
Here is a new proposal along these lines, which includes Δ%x̄.
Or maybe n should appear with the label "nΣ" which is actually its full name in the catalog.

Re: [C47] FINancial menu
A remark in passing, I know that %T is the label used since the HP 38C for this function, but if you think about it it's a rather curious choice insofar as one could think that T designates the T register which is however not involved in the operation.
I know that T is for Total but what total?
%y seems to me to be more in line with the other functions.
I confess, I’m quibbling.

There is no reason to use a single letter T ifPyjam wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 9:35 pmA remark in passing, I know that %T is the label used since the HP 38C for this function, but if you think about it it's a rather curious choice insofar as one could think that T designates the T register which is however not involved in the operation.

1. there is no standard to call Total anything, and
2. we can reasonably use a more descriptive name like %TT or even %TOTAL.

Re: [C47] FINancial menu
I think "ratio" is the correct term.
[%Ratio] or [%RATIO]
[%Ratio] or [%RATIO]
Re: [C47] FINancial menu
your menu mockup doesn't have the combined new command

Re: [C47] FINancial menu
My preference is for [Ratio%] to replace [%T]. It follows the same logic as [Δ%] for the difference expressed as a percentage.
Regarding the new function, I think [%Σx, Δ%x̄] is too long, but at least it is very explicit and I don't have a better idea.
There is room above [TVM] for a future [BOND] menu but I have no experience with this topic.
