To my eye, the proposed [%x:y] will not be more clear or intuitive to a new user. It appears more 'complicated' due to the new visual element of a colon in the middle of the name, not used elsewhere on the keyboard (and probably not in menus, though I've lost track and am not sure).
That's a valid point. It’s the fraction bar that is used in the stat functions such as [ Σx/y ].
[ %x/y ] would be great.

Edit: It seems that the symbol : is mathematically correct. But it has so many other more common meanings that it is not immediately obvious what it means.

@Bob, the colon as well as the obelus are established regional division symbols as mentioned more than once. You react to a colon as we should react to an obelus on this side of the Atlantic but alas we're used to weird stuff brought by ...

Edit: For sake of completeness,
there are regions where people calculate using decimal points and arithmetic operators [+], [−], [×], and [÷],
and other regions where people calculate using decimal commas and arithmetic operators [+], [−], [·], and [:].
Different sets of basic mathematical symbols. I don't know which set of people is greater.

We have done the new FIN menu and also did a small change in TVM. The examples for the new FIN functions have been tested, the next public release will contain the new menus and associated functions. See images attached and also refer to the menu pages of the documentation.
