C47 Classic single shift, replaces C43 on DM42
Re: C43 continuous improvement --> C47 Classic single shift, replaces C43 on DM42
Thx - that worked great. It's a real franken-calculator now, DM42, modded to a C47 but with C43 bezel...

Good on you! Mine is that way too (I suck at cutting paper). Maybe we should start the Frank & Stein Mod Shop...
I believe in free will. Just can't help it.
Re: C43 continuous improvement --> C47 Classic single shift, replaces C43 on DM42
Now assign different functions to a couple of keys for a full franken-experience.
Awesome calculator! Congrats to the team.

Re: C43 continuous improvement --> C47 Classic single shift, replaces C43 on DM42
Would it be a good idea to put a prominent notice on classic43.com to redirect visitors to the new 47calc.com?
I presume the former site is basically archive material at this point, and if that's the case, we don't want people thinking they arrived at the final stop, do we?
I consider the recent name change a bit lamentable, but going forward, it should be clear to new folks what's now obsolete and as well what the current path now is. It's important to strive to minimize confusion and keep the project as accessible and clear to new users as possible.

C47
We have a new release ready, at the usual place, here the updated release 108_09k.
1. The complete documentation folder is updated continuously and the latest doc snapshot is included in the release zip file. A huge thanks to Robbert who is forever adding pages and clever systems to keep on systematically document every setting and every function and every menu.
2. As usual the high-res paper template is included until we can supply you with one. We still have 1.5 weeks to wait for promised shipping of the sample C47 templates from China. I chased the Chinese for these... we will advise...
3. As usual the simulator and DM42 pgm files are in the download zip files.
4. Most issues reported are corrected, the rest may not be trivial and are listed on Gitlab as issues, and we will get there.
5. The mysterious "i" some people referred to was completed. The intention is for complex entry, which now works like this: entry can be any of:
- COMPLEX on f[ENTER], as per HP42S: real ENTER imag COMPLEX, or length ENTER angle COMPLEX.
- i on g[SIN], similar to HP35s: real i imag ENTER, or length i angle ENTER, or just i to get 0+i1.
- CC on F6, which comprises a combination and subset of the above.
. HP35s, HP42s, C47 MyMenu
6. One advantage to delay essential functionality is that users may jump in and help to code! (joke!) So did Didier, and he did state file saving and loading for us, thank you Didier. State files are saved with SAVEST, and loaded with LOADST from the IO menu. See the documentation for IO menu, C47_Menu_I-O_page_1.pdf. State files saved by C47 are C47 only, are loadable on other C47's, but not loadable on any other calculator type which also sports "state files".
. The new IO menu including all bulk saving and storing together.
- SAVE will still do a quick backup where no file name needs to be typed. This is specifically meant for quick unmanaged backups.
- Going to DMCP will do an auto-backup if done via the SYSTEM command. This is a separate backup which gets auto-loaded.
- SAVEST will ask to type a name and will save a state file with such name, for a user managed backup system.
All three types above use the same format but file extensions are different. (They can be renamed if really needed, at your own risk as one can easily confuse these names and file extensions!)
7. As we are on a process of revamping every menu (on a slow cycle), we are discussing and optimising positions and layout and this time P.FN was updated. See C47_Menu_P-FN_page_1.pdf and C47_Menu_P-FN…_page_1.pdf. Also the FIN menu was redone following numerous forum discussions on some new functions - see C47_Menu_FIN_page_1.pdf.
. The new FIN menu after the additional functions suggested on this forum
8. We relooked at the useful KEYMAP browser, improving navigation and adding the '.' key control which temporarily changes the view to the default key layout, for real time comparisons on screen of keys that changed.
9. Numerous corrections included histogram scaling, improving backup & state file saving, offimages, TAM menu pruning including removal of superfluous function keys, case lock changes and num lock changes to labels and variable name entry, re-looked at the catalog content, fixing a bug in ∏n and Σn which allowed 0 increments (i.e. obvious crash!) and at the same time changed both ∏n and Σn to cope with complex results, fixed a SIG display mode bug that was reported, fixed a DRG command last-X bug reported, Pauli improved some numerical accuracies, we removed some previously forgotten legacy commands (H.MS), fixed some softkey display issues, changed c43.sav to c47.sav, and fixed a reported bug in %Σ. There were more things, but it took me long enough to list these!
10. Enjoy and let us know what needs improvement, or do like Didier, jump in help and fix what is irritating or wrong

So what's the weather like in France, Pyjam?

Re: C47 Classic single shift, replaces C43 on DM42
Foggy and rainy today. I live on the Atlantic coast.
But no pots and pans here.
I may not have understood the question very well.
