My DM42 just arrived and I love it!
Much nicer than the original.

One minor issue, the glue holding the button surround on isn't holding very well. I will probably have to re-glue it at some point.

Apart from that, no complaints!

Thanks and sorry for the bezel.
Avoid super glue, best is rubber cement.

I might also humbly submit for your consideration something like a slice of "Elizabeth Craft Designs Clear Double-Sided Adhesive, 8.5 by 11-Inch, 5-Pack". Less messy than glue. I use that stuff all the time to 're-adhesive' decals and faceplates.

OMG! This DM42 is freakin amazing! Well built and feels great in your hand. Screen is crystal clear and stack display is great. I cannot say enough about it. Had no problems whatsoever. Super fast. My ONLY pick would be that the case is a little tight, but this is nothing compared to the amazing machine itself. Great job! wow....

I thought the case might loosen over time. Thanks.

While we are picking there: Way back cases were stiff in the area of the ON key (or the ON key was located in a stiff area of the case) preventing inadvertently turning the calculator on in a bag etc. Just food for thought. ;)

I go away for several months and come back and all this is happening!

I may have missed some of the previous discussions - but what is the idea behind the split screen? The screen seems lovely, and I really like that font is the same pixelated font of the original machine, but I don't quite understand repeating the x and y registers just above it?

Anyway, it looks fantastic - the attention to detail looks great. very much looking forward to it. I'm guessing I'm a bit late for beta-testing, and I'm probably not the best person either. I'd probably just drool on it.

mattn - I think official release is fall of this year.

The lower half with the X and Y registers (or X register and soft menu) is under the direct control of Free42. It's Free42 that "paints" it (hence the same font as the desktop version).

There are plans to make the whole screen usable and more configurable, but more important things like usability issues, bugs and hardware features (such as printing) are being worked on first.
There are only 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who do not.
