Login keys expiring?

Post by Thomas Okken »

Even though I sign in with "remember me" checked, over the last couple of weeks or so I've been getting logged out again and again. When I log back in, I can see the old "remember me" keys still there, but somehow, they didn't prevent me from having to login again.

Has anyone else noticed this lately? Whatever it is, it must be something recent, I've never had this problem before.

It could be something specific to iOS. It doesn't seem to affect me when I'm visiting the forum using my laptop.

I mostly browse the forum with Safari on iOS and haven’t had this problem.

I'm here 95% of the time using Firefox on Windows and have not had this issue.

Likely not much help, but thought I'd add a simple data point.

I confirm Bob's statement. Laptop with Firefox under Win10.

On my Android phone, however, I'm forgotten sometimes (intervals are some months and look irregular).

This has been happening to me also but only on my iPhone. I have an iPad also but it has never happened on there.
My iPhone is issued to me by my company and is under the control of Mordac, so I assumed that to be the cause...

It's happening regularly on my Android tablet under Chrome, and not lately but for a long time.

Maybe the forum refuses to recognize the cookie if it's coming from a different IP address than the one it was originally issued for? That would explain why my laptop is unaffected, it tends to stay at home... I'll keep an eye on it, maybe I get logged out when I try to access the forum while I'm away from home or while I'm using VPN. More data needed!

Try using your iOS device from home, but only on WiFi, so the ip address should remain fixed (behind the router) and then try it on 4G and see if behavior differs?

Good idea... Tried that, and wasn't asked to login. In the "remember me" list, the IP address now shows the one assigned to the LTE interface, but the forum doesn't appear to have a problem with the address change.

So much for that theory!
