The DM42 seemed like the more useful and user-friendly calculator. I have no nostalgia for old HP calculators having only recently discovered the joys of RPN so the DM41X's extreme accuracy to an aging calculator with a fourteen-segment display had no appeal to me.

If you grew up with the 41 its difficult to imagine a better calculator but the same applies for the 67, the 42 and the 48. Its a matter of taste.
The DM42 is however a different story, its far more accurate than any previous HP calc so i use my 41 most of time but when I am in doubt and want to double check a matlab calculation I always check with the DM42.

Oh, a DM48 would be absolutely the best...
