Lightbulb in topic icon

Post by Thomas Okken »

The topic icon for the "43S News" topic, in this subforum, has a lightbulb in it. What does that signify?

There used to be 3 "Gedankenblasen" (EDIT: thought bubbles) - they were automatically converted into a lightbulb with the new forum setup. Don't ask me why.

Seems to be the icon used for sticky topics. Probably just a choice made when board was initially set up.

Looking to the HTML code, this lightbulb icon is called: "thinking.gif"

Looks like it is used for topics where there are a lot of thinking going in ;)

Ok, this explains why it replaced the thought bubbles. 8-)

But what does that mean? My first guess was that it was because the topic in question had passed 1000 comments, but there's another topic in this forum that has even more comments but no special icon. It doesn't look like it's because of heavy traffic because there were only two posts there in the last week.

And I see no explanation in the phpBB FAQ, and I'm drawing a blank googling phpBB icons. It's not a big deal, of course, but it is tantalizingly mysterious!

Well, it's an option you have when you create a new topic, a new post, or reply to a post: you can choose the icon associated to your topic/post.

topic_icons.GIF
topic_icons.GIF (22.31 KiB) Viewed 2752 times

So this icon should have been chosen by Walter when he created the "43S News" topic.

I chose what was available at that time, i.e. three thought bubbles (please see above).
