Myself, I am still hoping that SwissMicros will go way beyond what HP had done, with a calculator having the HP-48 form factor, but with massively more memory, evidently much more powerful CPU, and a colour screen. One can always dream, right?

Just looking at the market from the perspective of SM, I see two areas they could address with new products. First, is follow on products for the existing customer base. This would be peripherals; like printers, extended memory, wireless modules, solar power, data loggers, etc. it could be software and firmware enhancements to extended and supplement current capabilities, such as graphing, printing, or over clocking to increase performance. This would be aimed at current users to round out the current product line.

Second, they could go after new markets with new products aimed a areas where the physical calculator market is growing; namely the educational market and maybe financial market. This could be something like a Python based graphing calculator with solid x86 emulation and BT connectivity. Embedded SW could make this a real teaching tool with math tutorials and guided problem sets.

My two cents and probably not worth that.
