Bob, could you please elaborate a little on this. What did we miss?

I worry whether I must start worrying.

Very short roundup: Way back, in the golden age of Bill H. and Dave P. in the Seventies of last century, there was an HP calculator division which deserved being called a division. Unfortunately, it declined in later decades continuously, losing heads and moving from site to site, and - you can say - came to an end in 2020. Too late to worry.
WP43 SN00000, 34S, and 31S for obvious reasons; HP-35, 45, ..., 35S, 15CE, DM16L S/N# 00093, DM42β SN:00041

There is no longer a division, all that remains within HP are Tim and Cyrille, working at best part-time on Prime f/w updates, but due to the pandemic, they haven't been able to work on it at all for most of 2020, and that continues to today. Sadly, HP has them working on other more 'profitable' peripheral and accessory products.

I was merely expressing disappointment and that this is an inglorious way for HP's various calculator teams to come to an end. Sure, the market has shrunk, sure mis-steps were made, but it still feels like a sad ending. Normally, these things are invisible and they 'just happen' and no one knows, but in this case both Tim and Cyrille came from the very community we are all in, so it seems all the more personal. Sigh....

Well, FWIW, I propose a well-deserved toast for Tim, Cyrille, and past colleagues of theirs. In the hope that they read this.

To superior products that fill real needs and provide lasting value.

Cheers!

Yes! Please let it be a Swiss Micro IR printer, Swiss precision and priced at just slightly above Chinese price :-)

Can someone speculate about when in May we could stop speculating about, as we would know what this is all about?
Myself, I am still hoping that SwissMicros will go way beyond what HP had done, with a calculator having the HP-48 form factor, but with massively more memory, evidently much more powerful CPU, and a colour screen. One can always dream, right?
