I think we agree to disagree (MATRIX only used during programming??).

@Walter I see little purpose in discussing this subject any further, since it seems that there is zero room for agreement in our positions.

A 35s but a little different?
But this is all moot, since the HP 35s is still in production, and therefore protected from copying.
In the USA, at least, it doesn't matter if it's in production or not. If there's no copyright notice in the ROM somewhere, it's fair game for anyone to use. Does the 35s have such a notice?

Well, the manual says © Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. , so I suppose that applies to the calculator itself.

Yes, that would. So we'll have to wait until 50 years after HP goes out of business.

Perhaps a better way of saying it would be “an HP-inspired RPN calculator that isn’t necessarily an emulation of a previous HP model.” Better, but built with the same calculator paradigm in mind. Like something HP would have built if the original team was still in the game.

Why not a just compilation of scientific+financial+computing = HP15c+HP16c+HP12c
On the same DM42/DM41X pateform?

Very powerful? May be easy to port? No menus! No?
Sincèrement, Sincerely, 73,

HP48SX (with dark screen), HP42s, HP32SII (1990 with fraction bug), HP41C/CV
TI-89 titanium, CASIO fx-cg50 and Numworks (to play with micropython)

It's easy to calculate the number of functions you can feature if you don't allow for menus. Please compare withe the sum of 15C, 16C, and 12C functions and specify the number of prefix keys you want to spend.

BTW, remember this one? https://www.hpmuseum.org/item/product2.htm
