Re: May 2022 Speculations
Thanks. That does work ok, but not ideal.

Re: May 2022 Speculations
It's interesting to see that people uses their calculators so differently, but still find the same model useful. A testament to HPs designs! The few and easy access unit conversions is why I prefer the HP-32SII over HP-15. I use them a lot and even if there just is a few, it is the most common I use. Mainly to convert "freedom units" to the SI units I'm used to.Stefan Karlsson wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 12:09 amAnother example is base conversion (e.g., between HEX and DEC), which I think is far more convenient in 32SII. I love how they have reused the top row variable letters for hexadecimal digits.
On the other hand, numbered registers don't exist in 32SII; one-letter variables are used instead. Program labels are also just one letter.
The 32SII wastes some keyboard space on unit conversions that at least I have never used. But maybe they are used in other parts of the world.
As I remember, 42S was noticeably slower for manual calculations, but I might be mistaken. In either case, this of course isn't an issue with Free42 and DM42.
The base conversions is also convenient. I don't remember the details of the 32, as the most recent use for me has been the 35S, and at least that one has indirect addressing (i) and (j) and can use a lot more variables than A..Z. I hope the DM-32 will have something similar.

Hi all,
June the 1st 2022, 0730 is now behind...
So! What's next? One more year?

Re: May 2022 Speculations
So if I sum up...
After a very long silence...
In may 2021 we get a message telling that a new model was coming...
Then very long silence...
Then in may 2022 (one year wait) we get a teaser of the DM32 model...
And then just after the teaser! we learn (in another forum again) that we have to wait one more year due to a "chip shortage"?
And in the meantime (waiting for these chips) we have no updates on existing models...
I'm sorry guys... I really love what you are doing (I have 5 swissmicros calculators)... but this is not how I expect you to communicate to your faithful customers...
See you in one year then...
Boubker.

Re: May 2022 Speculations
This attitude toward customers is significantly inferior to what I expect from an organisation striving for doing honest, solid business. YMMV
WP43 SN00000, 34S, and 31S for obvious reasons; HP-35, 45, ..., 35S, 15CE, DM16L S/N# 00093, DM42β SN:00041
Re: May 2022 Speculations
There isn't much they can do about chip shortages. In particular the lead times on STM32 microcontrollers are horrendous at the moment.
