It looks like it did so far. The "global notification" on the forum will no longer be global in due course.

Sorry for perhaps pesky nagging.

But it seems to me that you have considered my previous proposal about "FORUM ANNOUNCEMENT". I'd still recommend to have a sub-forum "FORUM ANNOUNCEMENT", perhaps even better "ADMINISTRATION", under "General discussion" rather than this thread in "Discuss". Thus it would have far better visibility, and you can choose a more descriptive title when necessary.

Going back to lurking mode ;)

Günter, I get where you're coming from, but I really don't think it's necessary.

This forum has been around for over 3 years now. In that time there has been ONE global announcement, the one made on Friday.

If it becomes necessary to make such a global announcement again, then I promise I'll look into this. I just didn't think it was warranted for one announcement every 3+ years!

Another ting (slightly offtopic, but maybe practical).
Would it be an idea to add the extension "Recent topics" to the forum?
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... _topics_2/
It can be customised to show an arbitrary list of recent topics on top of all (sub)forums.

In the forum I run it is very popular, and I've set the amount to the last 12 topics. Default when installed is 5.
Based on the version here, it is compatible with phpBB v. 3.1.10 and up.

i just use "new posts": search.php?search_id=newposts

There's not enough traffic on this site to require per-forum new posts, perhaps?

Yes, there's always "unread posts" from the dropdown. Or even the "active topics" from the same dropdown.

The "Recent topics" extension will make a "subforum" above all the existing forums with the amount of topics determined by settings in admin panel (which we registered users don't see).
If this extension is interesting for us and the admin(s), I suggest a "Recent topic" amount of 6 in order to not get it too cluttered.
