Yes I'm thinking of a design similar to what Bob posted with a leather flap closure that slips between the main case and a band transverse across the case (there's probably a leatherworking or bag design term for this outside my vocabulary). I'm thinking of black and brown options with thin, full-grain, textured leather. Something like ostrich, lizard, bison (which may be too thick), alligator/crocodile, or faux texture pressed onto some other high-quality bovine or horsehide leather. I like the textured options that come in shell cordovan from Horween in Chicago. I think this should definitely be full-grain for longevity but also very thin pieces to maintain the classy, exotic feel.STS-741 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 8:14 am... I was thinking of something much more sophisticated, possibly exotic, made of lizard or ostrich leather, in different colours, without a belt loop, but with a flap that completely closes the case. That's certainly not cheap, it would be as elaborately manufactured as a wallet, but it would be a worthy cover for expensive pocket calculators like those from SwissMicros.
Edited to add: The texture of the leatherette case that comes with the DM42 is not bad, it's just that it's pressed into vinyl and not real leather. Also, would people be interested in a lining like on the existing leatherette case, or would you be okay with an unlined interior?
